Club Update 26th November

Posted by PB Admin on 26 November 2020

Following the latest government/LTA updates the committee have once again had a virtual meeting and we are letting you know the good news that the club will be re-opening next Wednesday 2nd December from 8am.

Bookings for both courts and group coaching are now available on ClubSpark.

Please read on...

We will be resuming with the same restrictions in place as prior to this lockdown and here is a summary of them:-

  • All courts must be booked in advance using ClubSpark. Please do not just turn up to play as we need booking details so we can follow the NHS guidance regarding track and trace should it be required.  With this in mind we need all members who attend any rota sessions to remember to have their names recorded; it is each person’s responsibility to make sure they are listed.
  • The clubhouse will only be open for the use of the disabled toilet and putting tokens into the floodlights. Just 1 person is allowed in the clubhouse at a time. Water is available from the outside tap.
  • Coaching – group coaching can resume and has to be booked in advance online. For details and to book please follow the “Book group coaching here” link on the club main website
  • Rota play can also resume – Wednesday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and Saturday afternoons.  Please remember you can only join in rota in line with your membership i.e. to play in Wednesday evening or Saturday rota you need to be a full time member.
  • We ask that members only go to the club to play tennis and not to socialise before or after they have finished.  Spectators should only be in attendance if required as parent/guardian for juniors
  • Please note that Courts 4-6 have been rejuvenated during the closure period to upgrade them and extend their life.  This 6-day process involved all the old sand, debris, moss etc. being water blasted out of the courts, removed and subsequently replaced with clean fresh sand. Whilst the courts are playable there is still a lot of sand on the surface that we are advised will bed into the pile in the coming weeks as they are played on and with progressive tractoring and helped by rain.  Hence all moss has now gone but just be aware of the sand until it has been absorbed.
  • Matches – we are awaiting details from our leagues as to whether these will be restarting from next week and will update everyone once we know.

  • Court booking – the link to the court booking site is on the club website   “Book a court (members only) here” for your convenience.
  •  Further useful links on the club website  are “Court booking and usage during Covid-19 restrictions here” and “Court booking instructions here”

We know the government will be reviewing the “tier” system every 14 days so things may change – London and Hertfordshire are currently in the same tier (2), if there are any changes to this in the future there may be restrictions put in place for individuals and it is up to all members to keep an eye on this and follow any such restrictions put in place for their area of residence.

With the possibility the club may have further restrictions put in place before the end of the current tennis year (31st March) any decision regarding compensation for loss of playing time will be reviewed towards the end of the year

Enjoy your tennis everyone and please stay safe.
